Celestite, also known as celestine, originally is derived from the latin word caelestis, which means 'from the sky' due to its blue appearance. Mostly formed in geodes, this strontium sulfate crystal may sometimes contains barium. These beautiful pieces may be transluscent and have a luster ranging from clear to white and blue. Most notable for their blue appearance, but on a streak test they will leave a white streak! They are lovely pieces that belong in any collection.
