Chalcopyrite, also known as peacock ore, gets its name from the greek words chalkos (copper) and pyrites (fiery).  This important copper ore is notable for its beautiful blue, purple and golden colors to it.  One of the most widely available copper ores, this variety of copper iron sulfide is a stunning and brittle stone.
